PS4’s Days Gone Dips From Hectic February to April

The folks at Sony thought the same thing we all did. February 22, 2019 is way too busy. Days Gone was initially set for this date alongside 4A Games’ Metro: Exodus and Bioware’s Anthem. Instead, the devs working on Days Gone get a little more time to polish the game, and Sony gets a release date that should be nowhere near as crowded – April 26, 2019.

“We recently decided to move the release of Days Gone from the crowded February timeframe to April 26, 2019,” says Sony over at their PlayStation Blog. “While the studio is eager to see Days Gone in the hands of fans, Bend Studio will take the opportunity to further polish Days Gone.”

Today’s delay is the second for Days Gone. Delays can sometimes point to a development struggle, but it also feels like Sony is trying to find a date where Days Gone has the best opportunity for success. 2018 wasn’t going to work with Spider-Man kicking off an absolute deluge of fantastic holiday games. And Bioware’s Anthem is almost guaranteed to be the heavy hitter in February.

Barring other game delays, late April should be a solid spot for Days Gone to find its legs.

Here’s how my February 2019 is shaping up now:

Anthem
Metro: Exodus
Crackdown 3
Trials Rising

Yep, the holiday rush of games doesn’t know when to quit. It seems like damn near every game coming out lately has been good too. There has to be a dud at some point.

As for some of the other first-party titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, and The Last of Us: Part II? The folks behind each game continue to churn away on them, but Sony isn’t quite ready to announce release dates. Look for dates on some of these around next year’s E3.

Here’s a Days Gone trailer from the last E3 incase you haven’t been keeping up with all the latest games from Sony.
