The Full List of PlayStation Classic Games Doesn’t Include ESPN Extreme Games

Sony put together a quick trailer announcing the full list of PlayStation Classic’s 20 games. With a hard cap of 20 games, some of your favorites are likely MIA. Here’s the full list.

– Battle Arena Toshinden
– Cool Boarders 2
– Destruction Derby
– Final Fantasy VII
– Grand Theft Auto
– Intelligent Qube
– Jumping Flash
– Metal Gear Solid
– Mr Driller
– Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
– Rayman
– Resident Evil Director’s Cut
– Revelations: Persona
– Ridge Racer Type 4
– Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
– Syphon Filter
– Tekken 3
– Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
– Twisted Metal
– Wild Arms

There’s a lot of quality stuff there, a head-scratcher or two, and a bunch of glaring omissions. The games that jump out at me are Cool Boarders 2, Metal Gear Solid, Destruction Derby, Syphon Filter, Rainbow Six, and Final Fantasy VII.

It’s crazy Sony is sitting on the Syphon Filter franchise and not doing anything with it. All Sony’s first party is missing is a quality multiplayer game, and Syphon Filter could fit that niche nicely.

Grand Theft Auto is the head scratcher here. After GTA 3, who the hell wants to go back and play the old ones?

And no Gran Turismo? Tomb Raider? I get there are only 20 games, but I would have made room for at least those two.

What about your favorite PS1 game (maybe it’s a classic, maybe it’s just a game you loved) that didn’t make the cut? For me, it’s ESPN Extreme Games. I still remember me and my brother acting like we were sick so we could do some street luge racing. I don’t know how it would hold up today, but man I loved that game back in the day.

Sony will start milking our nostalgia on December 3 for $100.

Let me know in the comments what PS1 classics you would add to this batch of 20.
